Just a Little Light ...
Just a little light in a dark room converts the dark into light. It doesn't take much.
The ways for dark to get the upper hand is to extinguish all light or to occlude knowledge that light can exist. It can do these things because it is perceived to have so little power and, thus, is not perceived as a real threat.
