Helping Others — A Demonstration Of Acceptance

Helping Others

A Demonstration Of Acceptance

Acceptance involves seeing something as is, removing all labels of good or bad, positive or negative; and, in the spirit of unconditional love, allow it to be a part of you.

One way to demonstrate what happens to something when it is accepted is to use water and food coloring, or use sand of two different colors. The water or one color of the sand represents the person. The food coloring or the second color of sand represents the experience that will be accepted.

Put the water or one color of the sand in a clear glass.

Add a drop of food coloring or a pinch of sand of the second color.

Mix the water and the coloring together, or the two sands.

Notice how that which represents the experience blends with that which represents the person. When the experience is blended it is no longer a separate thing. When the blending is complete the person is slightly changed, and the experience is no longer a separate entity capable of affecting anything. The person is now in complete control because the person is that experience and every other experience that the person has ever accepted. (Actually, a person is every experience they've ever had, whether the experiences have all been accepted or not. Acceptance facilitates blending the experience and allows one to be in control – no random feelings or urges stemming from the experience.)
