Helping Others The Existence-Mentality Scale
Helping Others
The Existence-Mentality Scale
This technique uses the following Existence-mentality scale. It may be of assistance to you.
While teaching with the personal example of your life, put your attention more toward the "Existence" end of the scale and less toward the "Mentality" end of the scale.
While assisting another who has requested help, use the scale to address the step immediately above where the person mostly has his/her attention on. If the person is exhibiting much emotion, address the person's beliefs. If the person is mired in thought processes, reasons or excuses, address the person's feelings. If the person shifts their attention upward (and you feel your continued help will be beneficial), then you shift your point of address upward, too.
